Who We Are

Irwin Presbyterian Church is a small congregation whose ministry focuses on reaching people who are yet to know the love of Christ and making a positive impact on the surrounding community.   From 1838 to the present the Irwin congregation has fostered a culture of family and inclusion. Irwin’s culture is “imperfect people welcome here”.   This historic congregation met in tents, homes, log structures, and finally our historic building with its modern additions and amenities.   But we believe that Christ’s church is not the building, the church is God’s people.

Irwin Presbyterian Church belongs to the ECO (Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians). We believe in the authority of scripture.   Irwin Presbyterian Church took a stand on issues concerning doctrine. In 2013, the congregation entered into the Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians whose position on the authority of scripture aligns with Irwin’s. That move has provided support, resources, and educational enrichment pointing Irwin’s mission and vision to outreach focus of the great commission. Our mission is to be disciples who make new disciples for Jesus Christ. We believe in living out Jesus’ words “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22: 37-39

We have one worship service at 10:45 AM that is a blended mix of traditional hymns and modern praise music.   Children’s church and nursery is offered as an option for younger children during the worship service.   Sunday morning children’s Sunday School includes all ages from pre-school to high school.
